Question of the Month Results

For this Question of the Month we looked at a situation that might arise during a SCSA match. On the second string of a stage at a SCSA match, a competitor’s gun breaks and the string is scored as shot. The competitor asks to complete the remaining strings after repairing the gun. The gun ends up not being fixable and the competitor does not have a back-up gun and cannot complete the match. How are the remaining strings scored?

Gun problems during a course of fire are not fun. Squibs, jams, broken parts and other ammo issues will cause any competitor to stress. This Question of the Month specifically talks about a situation with a confirmed squib, but also applies to any situation where the competitor’s firearm or ammunition has become unsafe and leads to the RO stopping the competitor.

PCC competitors have slightly different gun handling rules compared to the handgun divisions where firearms are holstered. If a handgun competitor has a false start after moving downrange, they simply reload if needed and re-holster and return to the start position. But what if it is a PCC competitor?
