Activating activators

In the 2020 rulebook, some changes were made to section 9.9 that changed how certain activated targets are scored if the target is never activated. We wanted to see how many folks noticed the change and as a result asked the following Question of the Month: The Max Trap in the picture is activated by a stomp pad. The competitor shoots the target putting two hits in the upper A-zone and never activates it. How do you score the target?

Classifier re-entries

USPSA is pleased to announce that the ninth video in the Practiscore Training series is now available on the USPSA website. This installment covers how to correctly enter a classifier re-entry. Not a reshoot required by the rules, but the single, same division, optional reshoot that a competitor can do on the classifier for a better score.

PCC is not a crime

Pistol Caliber Carbine has been a USPSA Division since 2016, but there are still some folks who are against PCC. Yes, we are allowing people to use a rifle in handgun matches. And yes, PCCs aren’t compatible with holsters so the gun handling rules are different. But, USPSA matches have some of the most strict gun handling rules in the shooting sports so why is there so much hate towards PCC as a Division?

False start or DQ?

This question was taken from a thread on the Enos forum. The responses as to which rule applied were varied and there was much disagreement – perfect for a Question of the Month: At a USPSA match, a PCC competitor is given the “Make ready” command, loads and applies the PCC safety, and assumes the start position. After the “Are you ready?” command, but before the start signal, the competitor fires the PCC and the shot impacts the rear berm. As the RO, what is your call?

Match Setup in Practiscore

A new Practiscore training video that details how to setup a match in the Practiscore App is now available to USPSA members. This is the eighth video in the series and all the videos can be accessed on the Practiscore Training page on the USPSA website. The new video demonstrates how to create a new match, add stages, and add/squad shooters. There are more videos in the works for release later this year.

How to use the rulebooks video

NROI released a new training video to teach members the multiple ways that the digital rulebooks can be accessed and easily searched. A link to the video can be found on the rules pages of the USPSA and SCSA websites under the videos section. Members must be logged into either site to view the video.
