Rules Resolution

December 30, 2021 by Jodi Humann

Can you believe another year is almost over? Have you made your New Year’s Resolutions yet? Have you set some USPSA or SCSA goals? Is honing your rules knowledge part of those? Here are some easy ways for competitors and range officials to increase their understanding of the rules.

1.) Read the NROI Blog: You are already here reading this post, which is great! Did you know that you can subscribe to the blog mailing list (see homepage) and get a link to the new post each week? Or subscribe to the USPSA Down Range email and get NROI, USPSA, and SCSA info every Friday.

2.) Watch the NROI Tips Videos: We already have six videos available and will be releasing a few more soon. These short videos cover information for both competitors and range officials.

3.) Learn how to use PractiScore: NROI has prepared a series of videos on how to use PractiScore which are available to all USPSA members on the USPSA website. Also at local matches, don’t be afraid to get new competitors involved in the scoring process and show them how to run the tablet. Many times you just need to ask!

4.) Keep up on the rules changes: If you subscribe to the one or both of the above email lists, you will see announcements about rules changes. But, you can also watch the USPSA website for NROI rulings and the change logs for the rulebooks for USPSA and SCSA. And skimming the rulebook once in awhile helps in familiarity with the rules and using the rulebook more efficiently.

5.) If you have a question, ask it: Don’t be afraid to email rules@uspsa.org to get your questions answered. We are here to help! But please try to look it up in the rules first.
