USPSA LOCAP Nationals Staff

USPSA’s Lo-Cap Nationals will happen at Universal Shooting Academy, November 3-9, 2019  This match will be conducted in a back-to-back format.  The first match is the Production/L10 match, and will run from November 3-5.  First room night for staff for the first match is Friday, November 1.  If you only want to work the Single Stack/Revolver match, November 7-9, your first room night will be Tuesday, November 5.  Please see the staff benefits package before committing to these matches.

USPSA Certified Ammunition

USPSA’s Match Ammo program has been revised as the Certified Ammunition Program.  The conditions for this are largely the same as the old Match Ammo program:  vendors supply ammunition that they design and make for USPSA competition, and competitors can either order this ammo for delivery to a match or purchase it at retail and bring or ship it to a match.

As a Range Officer, you’ll be faced with situations where the competitor’s gun appears to be hopelessly jammed: double feeds, stuck cases, backward bullets, failure to extract, etc. In any case where a competitor has a malfunction, by rule, they have two minutes to correct the problem.

Questions, Answers, and Rulings

Here’s a common misconception about rulings versus simple answers to questions:  A ruling is made through the official ruling system, which requires the ruling to be approved by the board of directors, and doesn’t go into effect until 7 days after the ruling has been approved.  Rulings can change or interpret an existing rule, but are never made without cause and a demonstrable need for the change.  There is a system for this which requires a written ruling and the reason for that ruling, along with possible consequences of the ruling—all of that information goes to the board.

Coaching in Steel Challenge

Recently, there seems to be a trend developing of parents coaching their kids during their run at Steel Challenge matches.  The Steel Challenge rules allow a limited amount of coaching by competitors at Tier 1 matches only, and that’s limited to calling misses, if requested by the competitor.  Coaching by competitors or spectators is not permitted at higher tier matches, in any way, shape, or form.
