At the January USPSA Board of Directors meeting, the proposed changes to the USPSA Competition, USPSA Rifle, Shotgun and Multigun, and Steel Challenge Shooting Association rules were approved by the board. These member-driven changes went into effect on February 29, 2024.

What constitutes REF? The rule book describes it as:
4.6.1 Range equipment must present the challenge fairly and equitably to all competitors. Range equipment failure includes the displacement of cardboard targets, the premature activation of metal or moving targets, the failure to reset moving targets or steel targets, the malfunction of mechanically or electrically operated equipment, and the failure of props such as openings, ports, and barriers.

There’s a short video in the level one presentation that shows a competitor in a different country leaning on a wall while he engages targets. The wall subsequently falls down as he shoots and he rides it down to the ground, hammering away at the targets. He doesn’t drop his gun, and seems to get a kick out of the experience, as does his fellow competitors in the peanut gallery. The point of the slide is that props need to be built to withstand their intended use, as specified in the rules.

We all talk about safety. Muzzle Awareness. Plan of action in case of Fill in the Blank.
Our club found out firsthand that our EAP works. I don’t recommend finding out the same way though.
