We are currently working toward offering two IPSC RO seminars in 2025. Projected venues for these are Rio Salado in Phoenix, and Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio. An IPSC instructor will conduct these in order to give the RMI corps a better understanding of the differences in training and rules that we need to concentrate on.
We are also working toward producing a Learning Management System, LMS, course in order for USPSA NROI officials to gain IPSC RO certification. We will be meeting with members of IROA Academy toward that end, and hope to have fruitful discussions on creating the module as well as generating a reciprocal program for IPSC-certified Range officials to gain USPSA RO status. This is especially important for IROA or other NROI trained officials to come to the United States to serve as staff at matches, and will help international range officers interested in Steel Challenge to gain their SCSA endorsement. Since SCSA is a purely US/USPSA entity, we are solely responsible for training range officials in SCSA rules. This will increase the consistency of Steel Challenge matches around the world, and help to grow the sport on an international level.
As we progress toward these endorsements and certifications, we will make announcements on the USPSA and SCSA web pages, detailing how to gain a reciprocal certification or IPSC endorsement on your existing certification. Please be patient and don’t inundate us with questions just yet–we still don’t know what we don’t know, but will have more information soon. This is a step in the right direction for both US and international range officers, and will help grow understanding of both rule sets as well as encourage more Steel Challenge internationally, and who doesn’t want that?
Note: gaining an IPSC RO endorsement will not grant IROA (International Range Officer Association) status. More information on that can be found here.
